The task of the IGPP archive is to permanently preserve, index and make available documents and materials that are important for the history of the Institute as well as for the cultural and scientific history of parapsychology and the frontier areas of psychology in general. Due to its unique collection profile, the archive occupies an outstanding position in the German and European scientific landscape.
The archive’s holdings are divided into three main areas: Bequests or partial bequests of important personalities from the history of European parapsychology, including Albert von Schrenck-Notzing (1862-1929) and Hans Bender (1907-1991); extensive archive material from the Institute’s work since 1950, including case studies on haunting phenomena and documents from empirical investigations; as well as diverse collections, such as press collections and university theses.
The archive is primarily used for scientific research and also supports the public relations work of the IGPP. Access to archive material is possible after prior registration and with a written application for use stating the purpose of use (see under “Use”).
