Zusammenfassung

Over the past decade, Justin Feinstein and colleagues have conducted a systematic program of research investigating Floatation-REST (Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy) as a novel, non-pharmacological intervention for stress and anxiety-related disorders. Floatation-REST is a technique of sensory deprivation in which one can almost weightlessly float on the surface of supersaturated water heated to skin temperature. This talk will provide a comprehensive overview of ten years of experimental, clinical, and translational work examining how immersive sensory reduction in a reduced gravity, thermoneutral water environment influences brain, body, and behavior.
